We offer courses for equine enthusiast’s, which are passionate and willing to learn. One can choose between equitation and horse care or both. There are various levels of certification courses (levels explained below). Specialized training facility provided for competitive riders with or without own horse, to improve the style and ability of dressage, show jumping and eventing.

Horse Training

At Kortastud we offer full training services, from breaking in to advance level of riding. We train horses for dressage, show jumping, X-country, showing and basic riding. Training of horses is done by a professional rider under the supervision of an experienced International Coach.

Livery

We can offer stabled livery for horses in training, at rest, in rehabilitation, retirement or a well-deserved holiday. Horses are checked on daily basis, those on long term with us will need to be regularly wormed and vaccinated at the owner’s expense. We can facilitate all your horses’ needs such as vets and blacksmith visits.

To attain horsemanship a person should be fit mentally and physically. Horse’s demands time and patience to bond and reach to a point of understanding. There are no shortcuts to be a successful horseman. It’s a lifetime process of learning and developing skills and constantly improvising yourself.

The journey of becoming a horseman or horsewoman can start at any age and stage of life. Some lucky people are born and brought up with horses and wants to be around them while some have a goal of becoming professional. One can be passionate or professional or both, the idea is to be around the horses as it provides physical benefits as well as psychological benefits. It’s a great therapy, simply being with horse and developing a sense of trust is a great stress buster and boosts your general wellbeing. What is EAL?

It is an experiential learning approach that promotes the development of life skills for educational, professional and personal goals through equine-assisted activities. In short, Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is the introduction of horse in the learning process.

What are life skills?

Life Skills are a group of psychosocial competencies and interpersonal skills that help people to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of life. Few out of many life skills are listed below.

Yoga: We all know benefits of yoga but to in-cooperate it in life is bit difficult according to dependency of living digitally. First step to in-cooperate anything in life is discipline. Yoga is a technique to control mind and body. It provides a space and time to rejoice and discover a new dimension to live healthy life.

Horse riding: Horse riding is a great sport to get involved with and is an activity for all ages and ability. There is real sense of exhalation and freedom when you ride. Horse riding provides physical benefits as well as psychological benefits. It’s a great therapy, simply being with horse and developing sense of trust is a great stress buster and boosts your general well-being. Learning to control and care for an animal larger than yourself, can have profound effect on your confidence.

Swimming: Swimming is a great activity to develop physical strength and endurance and there is no age bar. You can burn lots of calories; it’s easy on the joints, supports your weight, builds muscular strength and improves cardiovascular fitness. Refreshes you in summer.

Nature trail: Nature trail / walk is a specially developed hiking trail or footpath that runs through countryside, these may convey information about flora, fauna, ecology and geology. Along these paths, there may be points of natural or cultural interests.

Air rifle target shooting: Air rifle target shooting demands stability, calmness and coordination. It is a popular sport and like any other sport, it takes lot of practice to get close to understand the idea of setting a goal and achieving it. It’s a sport, to be taken responsibly and participants must follow safety rules briefed at the beginning of the session. This sport teaches a good level of discipline and focus.
